Paducah, KY Billie E. Yancey age 95 passed away on Sunday at 9:40 A.M. at Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care in Metropolis, Illinois. Billie was born in LaCenter, KY on January 30, 1928, to her late parents William Travis and Margaret Ruth (Hendrickson) Lindsey.
Billie began her career with Michigan Bell in 1953, where she worked for 15 years. In 1968 Billie and her husband moved back home to Paducah to finish her career with South Central Bell, where she retired in 1983. She was a life member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church of Paducah, and Women of the Moose Chapter #39. Billie loved the church, and the Lord, which was a reflection to everyone she knew and met.
After retiring from the Telephone Company, Billie worked at Carolyn's Corner, Fern Lake Cherry House and Beverly Johnson Antiques.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Geving of Lone Oak, a granddaughter, Britton Yancey of Youngsville, Louisiana; two grandsons, Brett Geving of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Josh Yancey of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; great grandchildren, Griffin Geving, Gianna Geving, Jeremiah Yancey, Micah Yancey, Duke Yancey and Meran Yancey; special nephew, David Martin (Cheryl) of Holland, Michigan; nieces, Janie Dedic of Casper, Wyoming and Cathy Johnson (Val) of Colorado Spring, Colorado and special friend Mickey Weitlauf of Paducah, KY.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Yancey, a son, Michael Yancey, a sister, Betty Martin and nephew Billy Martin. Private services were held at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, and she will be entombed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lone Oak.
