LaCenter, KY Bro. John Baker, age 75 went to be with the Lord Monday, December 2, 2019 at 6:58 p.m at his home in LaCenter. Bro. John was pastor at Ohio Valley Baptist Church in Barlow, KY where he had served from April 11, 2011 to the present.

For several years he and his wife Peggy owned and operated Fredonia Food and More Grocery Store in Fredonia, KY. He attended Andersonville Baptist Seminary in Camilla, Georgia where he received an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies. He was licensed to preach in 1996, and the first church he pastored was Sulpher Springs Baptist Church in Marion, KY, the second was Grangertown Baptist Church in Sturgis, KY, and the third church he pastored was New Bethel Baptist Church in Eddyville, KY. Prior to pastoring, he and his wife Peggy ministered at several churches on weekends, participating in "Experiencing God." His favorite saying was "I am blessed."

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Baker, of LaCenter, two sons, Reese Baker (Susan) of Fredonia, KY and Jamie Baker (Cheryl) of Memphis, TN. Three brothers, Tommie Baker (Sherry) of Fredonia, KY, Joe Baker (Patti) of Marion, KY, and Randy Baker of Fredonia, KY. One sister, Sharlon Wigginton, of Fredonia, KY. Four grandchildren; Torey Baker, Reid Baker (Jill), Anna Baker, and Clarke Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Viola Baker.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, December 5, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY and Friday morning at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Fredonia from 10:00 until funeral time. Funeral Services will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Fredonia with Bro. Joe Baker officiating assisted by Bro. Brandon Bramlett.

Interment will follow at Rowland Cemetery.
