Charles "Gabo" Smith, age 80 of Kevil, KY passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Baptist Health Hospital.

Charles was born August 28, 1943 to his parents, Charlie and Verna Reisinger Smith. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaCenter. Charles worked as a maintenance man for Westvaco for many years and even served as President of Local 680. He was a huge supporter of the Lion's Club Telethon throughout the years and attended with his grandson Cody every opportunity they had. Charles had a knack for restoring old VW Beetles and old tractors. He never turned down a fishing trip and will be missed by his family and friends.

Charles is survived by his wife Faye Tilford Smith of Kevil, KY; a daughter, Kathy Smith of Rome, GA; a grandson, Cody Newton of Kevil, KY and one cousin, Harley.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tony Newton; a sister, Rhonda Jennings (Michael).

Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.

Funeral will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 beginning at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jason Hay officiating.

Interment will follow at LaCenter Cemetery.
