Devin N.
Penrod
December 17, 1999 – January 18, 2022
Devin Nathaniel Penrod passed away tragically on January 18th, 2022. He had just turned 22 on December 17, 2021. Devin was very special to a lot of people, for many different reasons. He was silly, fun, and almost always had a goofy grin on his face. Sometimes when he spoke his eyes lit up with excitement as if he were about to share a secret. His personality was big, but his heart was even bigger. Although he didn't always like to let his feelings show, he never left without saying "I love you". He came from a big family, and growing up most of his Sundays were spent playing with his siblings and cousins at his granny and pappys.
To say he had a passion for anything with a motor is an understatement. He loved to be behind the wheel, and racing was his escape from reality. Additionally, he liked photography, nature and drones. He would take his drone out and spend hours trying to get the perfect aerial video, just so he could share it with everyone. Being that he loved nature, he would go to Garden of the Gods, and other places whenever he could. Lastly, he was a gamer, so he played x-box live with friends and family almost every night.
Devin had just started working with his aunts and cousins in December at Oasis Spirits in Lacenter, Ky. He loved his job, and always gave his best at everything he did. He enjoyed being able to hang out with his family while he worked, and always did what he was asked without question. However, Devin had plans of getting his CDL's, so he could eventually drive a truck one day. He always talked about making more money to buy bigger and better things, and he was more than a little excited about driving a semi truck for a living.
Devin was saved at Oscar Baptist Church. Above all, he loved God, his family and his friends. To hear him talk about his mom, you would think she hung the moon. Family was everything to him. Some of his favorite childhood memories were playing with his brothers, sister and cousins that he thought of as brothers. Even when there was a disagreement, he was quick to forgive and forget. He never could stay angry for too long, because his heart wouldn't allow him to. Devin was definitely one of a kind, and anyone that had the chance to really know him was truly blessed.
Devin was preceded in death by his aunt Destry Gray, uncle Casey Hall, dad Paul Penrod, cousins Amanda Broyles, Rodney Knight and Rachel Lee, nanny Sandra Love, uncle Dwight Perod, pappy Raymond Gray, granny Wila Mae Gray, and biological dad Billie Hodges.
Devin is survived by his mother Angela Hollowell, step father Anthony Hollowell, sisters Stacey Penrod and Brittany Hodges, brothers Jaden Smith, Mason Penrod, Alex Hodges, Calvin Hodges, and Brent Goodrich, nanny Vicki Payne, grandmother Betty Massey, grandfathers Robert Hall and Rollie Payne, niece Aurora Ray, and many more cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY beginning at 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Baker officiating.
