Kevil, KY Dorothy Nell Luckett age 95, passed away at 8:52 p.m. Thursday, February 6 at Life Care Center in La Center, KY. Dorothy was born on November 8, 1929 to James Alvin and Lula Mae (Harper) Casey of Bandana.
Dorothy spent most of her young life in Bandana, KY. She was a graduate of Ballard High School. Dorothy was a homemaker, worked at CTS and later cared for her aging parents. She married Ralph Luckett and together they raised her youngest son. In the summer you could see her outside raking, mowing, and in the garden tending to her cock's comb flowers and, in the winter, making beautiful quilts. She was a very faithful member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Cooper (Rhonda) and Jeff Cooper (Michelle) all of Kevil, KY., a grandson Matthew Cooper (Lisa) of Kevil, twin granddaughters, Mandy Shepard (Keith) of La Center, and Sandy Taylor (Jason) of Kevil; three great granddaughters, Evelyn Cooper of Lexington, KY, Abby Cooper (A.J. Brown) of Barlow, KY and Lakyn Taylor of Kevil, KY; a great grandson, Emmett Clayton Cooper of Kevil, KY and her first husband, Clyde Cooper (Pat) of Paducah, KY. Also, most recently joining the family, her great great granddaughter Araeya Brown, of Barlow, KY.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Luckett, brother, James's "Son" Casey and loyal companion "Little Lady" her special puppy.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, after 11:00 am at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center, KY. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Bob Morrow officiating.
Interment will follow at the Oscar Community Cemetery.
Dorothy's family would like to thank the entire staff, management and all the nurses and everyone else at Life Care for the love and companionship that they so diligently showed to make the last six years so memorable. It was a journey that will not soon be forgotten.
