Obituary

Oscar, Ky. Fort Ray Duley, age 86, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his home in Oscar, Ky. surrounded by his loving family. Fort Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years Doris Duley of Oscar, Ky. three daughters; Linda Duley of Oscar, Ky. Marilyn Ingram and her husband Mike of Oscar, Ky., and Terri Ross and her husband David of Lovelaceville, Ky. Seven grandchildren; Jason Allcock, Monica Ingram, Jennifer Dillworth, Brandon Ingram, Kristin Whipple, Kelsey Ross and Barry Ingram. Twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and his parents Leonard Clarence and Dora Mae Temple Duley. Fort was a member of Oscar United Methodist Church. In 1969 he and his wife Doris built, owned and operated the Fin and Feather Restaurant, along with the Bait House and Processing Room. He served as Magistrate for Ballard County Fiscal Court from 1990-2002 for District 2. He loved crappie fishing on Lake Barkley and frequented the best fishing spots in Ballard Country. He enjoyed learning about new varieties of pecans and creating his own from pecan trees from around the country. A bridge right down from his home in Oscar was named in his honor. His handiwork is everywhere around the Duley home, from the pond he built to stock with fish, to the handmade birdhouses and hex signs made made for good luck are found on buildings and barns. He cherished his family. His greatest joy in life was taking his grandchildren fishing, playing with them and telling tall tales. Fort Ray was a hard working, dedicated husband and father who passed on his love for his family and communtiy as his legacy. Visitation will be Tuesday Evening after 5:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter with the Rev. Robert Mckinney and Rev. Kenny Locke officating. Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be sent to St. Mary's Food Pantry P. O. box 570 LaCenter, Kentucky 42056.
