Barlow, KY. Gary Chandler, age 76, died Sunday evening at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.
Gary was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader. He was a member of Ballard County Country Club and served as Board President for six years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He taught at Cairo High School, Dongola High School and for two years at Belle Glade Jr. High School in Florida. He taught Business and Social Studies. He retired after thirty years of teaching and coaching. He owned and operated Allen Florist for twenty-four years with his wife Barbara. He served on the Barlow City Council for over twenty years. He played drums in the Back Water Band. He loved music and he loved to dance. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and St Louis Cardinals fan. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time in Florida fishing and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of fourty-four years, Barbara of Barlow; two sons, Dane Chandler (Katie) of Boonville, IN and Kyle Chandler (Liz) of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Madison and Bella Chandler of Boonville, IN and Hughes Chandler of Murfreesboro, TN and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Lou Megary Chandler and one brother, Philip Chandler and wife Sue of Springfield, IL.
Visitation for Gary Chandler will begin at 4 P.M. Tuesday, October 11, at Morrow Funeral Chapel of LaCenter and Wednesday morning beginning at 9:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church in LaCenter. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Rev. Jamie Lee.. Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery in Barlow, KY.
