Harry (Pete)
Edward Baker
January 20, 1941 – May 30, 2022
Wickliffe, KY Harry (Pete) Baker, age 81, passed away at his home Monday, May 30, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Pete as he was known, was raised by his grandfather until he left for the Army in 1960. While in the Army he was always happy to serve and willing to serve his country as long as they would let him. In fact, even when his health was failing and he could no longer move well, he told everyone that he would still fight if they would let him. While serving he received several decorations including several good conduct medals and 5 campaign stars.
He also met his wife, Kim, whom he loved dearly for forty years until her death and beyond till his death. After serving for 20 years and retiring from the Army he served our country for thirty-two more years training our soldiers at Ft. Campbell.
After retiring from Ft. Campbell, events in his life brought him to Western Kentucky and into the lives of the Harts and the Bruners. While becoming a Ballard Countian he was happy but still voiced something was missing. He stated that he no longer had any family and didn't want to die without family and without knowing he belonged and was loved. He asked if the Harts and Bruner's loved him enough to make him a part of the family legally and permanently. They replied of course and legally adopted him as the son of Kern and Bonnie Bruner. He spent the next six years becoming an irreplaceable part of the Hart and Bruner family as well as the Ballard County Family and the Seven Oaks church of Christ family, in Mayfield, where he was Baptized and where he loved to go Worship God and learn about His will for him.
Pete made an impact wherever he went and will be forever missed. Thank you for choosing us Pete.
Memorial services and Military honors will be June 14, 2022 at Morrow's in LaCenter, KY at 1:00.
His cremated remains will be buried at the Harry "Pete" Baker Veteran's Memorial Gardens behind the Kentucky Veteran & Patriot Museum per his final wishes, at a later date.
