LaCenter, KY Jackie Steele Overby, age 86, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. He was born in Hinkleville, KY on January 26, 1938 to his late parents, Wesley Gordon and Mary Lee (Steele) Overby.

Jackie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired after 30 years of service to the State Highway Department and also was employed by the Ballard County Road Department for several years. Jackie enjoyed camping, fishing and tinkering in scrap iron. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Martha Lou (Edwards) Overby; two daughters, Mary Green (Randall) of Benton, KY; April Barnes of Kevil, KY; a bonus son, Donald Barnes of Ledbetter, KY; a brother, Harold Ray Overby of Kevil, KY; a sister, Meredith Anderson of Clinton, KY; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Jackie was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Dale Overby; a grandchild, Chelsea Jane Hickson and his parents.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 25,2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Larry Fraser and Rev. Mike Suiter officiating.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
