Ragland, Ky. James ( Slim) Edward McWhirter Sr., age, 74, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:38 p.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah. He was a member of East Baptist Church in Paducah, Ky. Slim farmed most of his life. He loved to restore old vehicles and show them. Received several awards for showing cars. He is survived by his wife Marsha McWhirter of Ragland, one Son James ( Jim) McWhirter ( Jamie) of Kevil, one daughter Susie Lanier ( Brent) of LaCenter, Ky. two step-daughters Marisa Kilgore ( Keith) of Paducah, Ky. and Kelly Sheldon ( Allan) of Columbus, Ohio. Two brothers Hubert McWhirter of Alabama and Travis McWhirter of Alabama. Two sisters Inez Tidwell of Alabama and Joyce Benton ( Bud) of Monkey's Eyebrow. Five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. James was preceded in death by his first wife Freeda Sue McWhirter and his parents Wilburn and Ada McWhirter. Visitation will be Monday Evening December 7, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, Ky. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, Ky. With the Rev. Kenneth Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
