Obituary

Barlow, KY John Shepherd, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bardwell, KY. He was born in Cairo, Illinois on November 30, 1933 to his parents, Earl A. and Vivian Dowdy Shepherd.

John was an Army Veteran of the 101st Airborne Paratrooper Division during the Korean War. He received the Purple Hear Medal and several other medals while serving his country. John was a lifetime member of the VFW, ELks Club and DAV. He enjoyed crappie fishing. Employment in his life included, McDonald Douglas Aircraft for many years, EEI in Joppa, Illinois and Union Carbide. John was a master wood worker and could build anything out of a piece of wood.

John is survived by two sons, Cliff Shepherd and his wife Sylvia of Kevil, KY Brian Shepherd of Barlow, KY; two daughters, Beth Morgan of Charlotte, North Carolina and Colleen and her husband Richard of Marble Hill, Missouri; six grandchildren, Craig Shepherd, Emily Warren, Jessica Hogue, Savanna Shepherd, Michelle Seabaugh and April Niswonger; several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Shari Shepherd; two brothers, Bud Shepherd and Edward Shepherd; two sisters, Shirley Keith and Joyce House and his parents.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 after 11:00 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter with the Rev. Ryan Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery.
