Richard Edwin Overby, 74, of LaCenter, KY passed away on March 22, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 15, 1950, in Cairo, IL to William Ray Sr. and Helen Haynes Overby.

After graduating from Murray State University with a Masters Degree in Industrial Arts, Richard started as a carpentry teacher for Ballard County Vocational School and then served as Facilities and Transportation Director of Ballard County Schools. He was Project Manager for the planning and construction of the new Ballard Memorial High School in 2006. Richard was well known for his great talent as a woodworking craftsman. He served as a LaCenter City Councilman, was a founding member of the His House ministry in LaCenter and could be found at the Bluegrass Restaurant 'Liar's Table' most any day of the week surrounded by friends.

He is survived by his wife Edwina Gunter Overby of Paducah KY, children Tera Bichon (Teddy) of Franklin TN, Razi Overby (Misty) of Kevil KY. Stepchildren Kyle Madison and Mark Madison of Paducah, KY. Grandchildren Brooks Bichon and Coco Bichon of Franklin, TN. Brothers William Ray Overby, Jr of Barlow and Everette Lynn Overby of Wickliffe along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
