Barlow, KY Ruth Negley, age 99, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Life Care Center of LaCenter. She was born on January 7, 1925, to her late parents; Roy and Elizabeth Louise (Ford) Steinbeck.
Ruth was a member of Barlow Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Bible School. She retired after many years as administrative assistant to the Ballard County School Superintendents. Ruth was always involved in her community, a member of the Eastern Star, and served as the Mayor of Barlow for many years. She was instrumental in starting the Barlow Library. You could often find Ruth gardening, working with her flowers and she was an excellent seamstress. Most of all, Ruth enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters. Marsha Ankelmann (Bill) of St. Louis, MO, Ellen Negley Coyer (Jimmy) of Madisonville, KY; eleven grandchildren, Jason Wildharber, Jonas Wildharber, Chase Coyer, Olyvia Coyer, Elayna Coyer, Taylor Coyer, Chloe Coyer, Sophe Coyer, Corey Anklemann, Ashley Anklemann and Devon Bridges; eleven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harmon Negley; a son, Forest Lee Wildharber; two brothers, Walter Steinbeck and William Steinbeck and her parents.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Barlow Baptist Church after 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Barlow Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Fickes officiating.
Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery.
