LACENTER, KY: Stephen Michael Simmons, age 68, died at Life Care Center in LaCenter on December 11, 2017 at1:14 p.m. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He graduated from Ballard Memorial High School. He attended the University of Kentucky in the College of Engineering. Steve grew up in the Hinkleville Community. Some of Steve's accomplishments were the quality assurance oversight of the I-24 embankment construction both on the Illinois and Kentucky approaches to the I-24 Bridge at the Ohio River and also the design of all the box culverts on the US-45 LoneOak/Mayfield Highway. Steve is survived by one sister, Shirley Cooper of Edgefield, SC;three brothers, Donald Simmons and wife (Carolyn) of Paducah, KY, Wayne Simmons and wife (Margaret) of Lexington, KY, and Terry Simmons and wife (Ruth) of LaCenter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Bertral Simmons and John Harold Simmons and his parents, Harold Dean and Cozetter Stovall Simmons. Visitation for Steve Simmons will be at Morrow Funeral Chapel of LaCenter from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday.The funeral service will begin at 3:00 Thursday officiated by Rev. Bob Martin.
