Sue Abernathy, aged 87, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah, KY. Born on July 14, 1939, in Paducah, she was the cherished daughter of the late Lewis and Lula Mae (Martin) Hicks.

A devoted member of Heartland Church, Sue was known for her love of reading and was a frequent visitor to the Barlow Library. Her career at Credence Speakers was marked by dedication and hard work. Sue held a deep affection for animals and spent much of her time feeding the squirrels and birds. Her family was her greatest joy.

Sue is survived by her son, Tony Abernathy of Aiken, South Carolina, and her brother, Ronald Hicks, along with his wife Teresa, of Paducah, KY. 

She joins her beloved husband, Bud Abernathy, her brother, Lewis Gayle Hicks, her sister, Barbara Edwards, and her parents in eternal rest.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at LaCenter Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Russ Wilson. 

Interment will follow at the same location. Sue's life was a testament to love, devotion, and kindness.
