Obituary

Bandana, Ky. Tot Waldon, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family on Sunday Evening at his home in Bandana. Tot is survived by one son, Rev. Stan Waldon and his wife, Marilyn of Clinton, Ky., three daughters, Sondra Dunn and her husband, Glen of Bandana, Ky., Rhonda Sullivan and her husband, Darrell of West Paducah, Ky., and Susan Denton and her husband, Chris of LaCenter, Ky.; Nine grandchildren, Clay Dunn, Joe Dunn, Eric Waldon, Mason Denton, Autumn Allen, Katie Ritter, Kelly Joiner, Haley Horsfall, and Maggie Denton; Ten great grandchildren, and one twin brother Dot Waldon of Lady Lake, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Opaline Webb Waldon, his two brothers, J.T. Waldon, and Edgar Waldon and his parents, Charlie and Ida Bell Waldon. Tot was a life long member of Bandana Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught the Men's Sunday School Class for 62 years. He was a member of the North Ballard Masonic Lodge # 537 for over 50 years. Tot was a proud graduate of Murray State University in 1953. He was a member of The 1922 Murray State University Society. He started his career at Bandana Elementary School as a teacher, coach, and principal. He refereed basketball games for 17 years. In 1958, he went to work for State Farm Insurance where he has continued to serve as an agent for 59 years. He served on Ballard County School Board for 20 years. In 1968 he was one of the original 12 people to help organize the Ballard County Country Club and served as the fourth president. Tot hosted 39 Tot Waldon Invitational Golf Tournaments and managed 25 Ballard County Country Club Invitational tournaments. Tot served on the Ballard County Democratic Party Committee. He was a member of Ballard County Chamber of Commerce. . Tot attended the Kentucky Sweet Sixteen High School Basketball tournaments for 59 years. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16, 2016 after 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning after 9:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in LaCenter. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in LaCenter with the Rev. Stan Waldon officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
