Wickliffe, KY- Dorothea Lea Anderson nee Dodson (98) affectionately known as “DeeDee” or “Mama Dorothy” by friends and family passed away on October 16, 2021.
She is predeceased by her father, John N. Dodson (Jack), mother, Mabel Aldean Dodson (nee Girard), brother, William Thomas Dodson, and granddaughter, Katie Anderson. She is, also, predeceased by the love of her life for 63 years, Walter Anderson, Jr. (Junior).
Dorothy and Junior were very involved in their community; she was in the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron, and he served in the Masons as a Shriner. They were instrumental in forming the Barlow Boat Club. Dorothy was president of Barlow Elementary PTA and worked as supervisor of the lunchroom staff for many years. She had many hobbies: sewing, playing cards, tennis, and taxi-driving her children to their many activities. Dorothy was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano and organ for anyone who would listen. Dorothy and Junior moved and traveled with his job as Superintendent of Construction for Stearns-Rodger Engineering and Manufacturing Company based out of Denver, Colorado living in Iowa, Washington State, California, Arizona, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Wyoming.
She will be sadly missed by her brother, John M. Dodson (Louise) of Lenexa, KS, and three children, Rita Flanigan (Frank) of Edwardsville, IL, Beverly Humphries (Larry) of Cape Coral, FL, and Kenny Anderson (Brenda) of Wickliffe, KY. Her legacy will be carried on by her grandchildren, Christopher Johnson (Jennifer), Robert Chase (Mary), Jennifer Crowell, Shane Humphries (Janet), Blake Humphries (Shannon), Sara Michael (John), Lindsay Rushing (Kent), and Emily Hale (Cory). She, also, leaves 16 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021 after 12:00 pm at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter,KY with Rev. Dee Hazlewood officiating.
Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery.
