Mary Louise Denton

LaCenter, KY, Mary Louise Denton passed away peacefully Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her home. Mary Louise was a Ballard County Native. She was born on November 6, 1930 to Anna Sale and John Boyd Kraps. Mrs. Denton was a proud graduate of Ballard County High School, Class of 1948. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts, both in elementary education, from Murray State University. She taught in the Ballard County School system for 33 years as a fourth grade teacher at LaCenter Elementary School, then as a second grade teacher at Barlow Elementary School. Mrs. Denton was a member of the LaCenter Christian Church and served as a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, pianist and choir member. I addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Victor Denton, Jr. whom she married on February 23, 1952; brothers, Dean Kraps, Don Kraps and Rowland Kraps; and sisters – in-law Georgia Kraps, Wanda Kraps and Jane Kraps. She is survived by sons, Kevin (Debbie) Denton of Horse Cave, KY, Kreg (Bethany) Denton of LaCenter; daughter Vicki (Jeff) Gough of LaCenter; grandchildren David (Lori) Denton of Frankfort, KY, Julie (Ryan) Price of Bowling Green KY, Ryan (Daisy) Denton of Nashville, TN, Jordan (Bridget) Gough of Paducah, Tyler Gough of LaCenter, Anna Denton of LaCenter, Abbi Denton of Kevil and Lydia and Nora Denton of LaCenter; great-grandchildren Ella and Carter Denton, Grady Price and Nora Denton; brothers Howard (Nancy) Kraps of Salem, IL and Dick Kraps of Jeffersontown, KY; sisters-in-law Reba Kraps and Lorena Dorsey; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Denton’s family is so grateful for the caretakers who assisted her over the past 7 years- Patricia Pearson, Peggy Shaffer, Peggy Lamkin, Judy Doublin, Daphane Robinson and Gayle Mitchell, and the services of Lourdes Hospice. It is Mrs. Denton’s request that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to LaCenter Christian Church, P.O. Box 247, LaCenter, KY 42056. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY. Funeral will be the next day Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2pm, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY with Rev. Austin Scott and Rev. Kevin Denton officiating.
