Vicki Holder Harris

Vicki Holder Harris (64) departed this life on Monday, September 3 at 2:56pm, surrounded by loved ones. She passed peacefully in her home in Sierra Vista, Arizona after a valiant battle with cancer. Vicki was born on August 20, 1954 to James and Dorothy Holder. Vicki, a La Center native, graduated from Ballard Memorial High School and received her Nursing degree from Paducah Community College. She retired from nursing in 2011 and returned home to La Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church and active with her Ruth Bible Study group, which she loved dearly. Vicki moved to Sierra Vista in May of this year where she spent her last months entertaining her grandchildren, gardening and feeding a yard full of doves, wrens, finches, cardinals, quail and rabbits. She had also committed to joining High Desert Bible Church. She is survived by six children; Tammy Elias (Fred) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Cheryl Keith (Greg) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, James Harris II (Laura) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Kevin Harris (Tina) of Gordonville, Missouri, Josh Armstrong (Tess) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Ryan Armstrong (Becca) of Radcliff, Kentucky; one brother Steve Holder (Jennifer) of La Center, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and scores of nephews, nieces and cousins. Vicki was preceded in death by her husband Doug Harris, her parents James and Dorothy Holder, a sister Linda Holder Graves, a brother J. Ronnie Holder and an infant son. Memorial service will be at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center on Saturday September 15 with visitation beginning at 10am and services at 2pm. A reception will follow at First Baptist of La Center. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
