Mary Sue (Hooper) Smith

Kevil, KY Mary S. Smith, age 86, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Baptist Health in Paducah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 30, 1940, in Erin TN to her late parents, Garland and Rosie Hooper.

She was a member of Lovelaceville Missionary Baptist Church. Mary retired after being employed by Owen Cleaners for 40 years. Mary loved spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jackie L. Smith of Kevil, KY; a daughter, Debbie L. (Smith) Peeler and her husband Harold of Kevil, KY; a grandson, Wes G. Peeler and his wife Terri of Kevil, KY; two great grandchildren, Myra Peeler and Ean Peeler of Kevil, KY; a sister, Linda H. Walker of Hopkinsville, KY; brother and sister in laws, Dean and LaDonna Smith of West Paducah, KY and Peter and Sue Oreskovich of West Paducah, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Rosie Hooper and father and mother-in-law, Bert and Francis Smith.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY. after 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Wes Peeler officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
