David James Porter

Barlow, KY, We honor the life of our brother, David James Porter, who left this earth peacefully on December 12, 2025.

He leaves behind a legacy of love for the outdoors. David loved to hunt and fish. He coined the phrase, "while fishing that the wind could blow from all four directions at one time." When David wasn't fishing or hunting he was a talented carpenter. David had many special friends who graciously helped him continue to hunt and fish when his body needed help.

David was born to Jim and Janice Porter on November 25, 1962, in Long Beach, California. He will deeply missed by his brother, Donnie Porter of Barlow, KY; his sisters, Cathy Drummond (Chris) of Barlow, KY and Rene Watwood (Jay) of Perrysville, Indiana. David loved his nieces and nephews and lovingly assigned each of them a special nickname who include, Logan Drummond (Rachel), Chase Drummond (Breanna), Madeline McLaurine (Tyler), Addy Gossom and Kaitlyn Gossom; great nieces and nephews, Wyatt, Farren, Oliver, Nellie and Jules. David was a member of Barlow Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY, on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time beginning at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Scott Fickes officiating.

Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery in Barlow, KY.
