Mary Ann Claxton

Hopkinsville, KY, Mary Ann Claxton, age 64, passed away on January 16, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 2, 1960 in Hopkinsville, KY to her parents, Earl Willam "Billy Mac" McIntosh and Bobby Ann Woods McIntosh.

Mary Ann graduated from Todd County Central High School in 1977, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Austin Peay University. She retired from teaching after 30 years of service to Sharon Grove Elementary, Barlow Elementary, and Ballard County Elementary School. She was at her best when working with kids, and thought of them all as “hers”.

She was a faithful servant to First Baptist Church of Barlow in the youth and children’s ministries, and again working in the children’s ministry at New Work Fellowship, greeting members and guests on Sunday morning, and serving meals on Wednesday nights. She was an avid UK basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She enjoyed music, and could often be found worshipping the Lord while singing with her grandchildren or listening to worship music while cooking meals for someone in need. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mark Claxton; daughter, Brittany (Ryan) Stull; grandchildren, Carter and Ella Stull; mother, Bobbye Ann McIntosh; sister, Susan “Big Mac” McIntosh, and brother, David McIntosh, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Mac McIntosh, and her brother, Robert Gary “Gary Mac” McIntosh.

Visitation Services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at New Work Fellowship in Hopkinsville, KY located at 5050 Canton Pike, Hopkinsville, KY 42240, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at New Work Fellowship in Hopkinsville, KY at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Michael Shearon, Rev. Cliff Hines, Rev. Scott Fickes, Rev. Kevin Lee and Rev. Steve Buttram officiating.

Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke, KY.
