Brandon Wood

Brandon M. Wood, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 27, 2025. He was born on September 27, 1984, to Paul Wood and Sharri Wood.

Brandon made his career of being a River Boat Harbor Pilot on the confluence of the lower Ohio and Mississippi Rivers located in Cairo, Illinois. A place he considered to be his other home, his place of peace, no matter how busy. Brandon had a generous, kind and giving soul who often seen to the needs of others. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his motorcycle and ATV riding with his family.

He is survived by his best friend of 21 years, Hollie Wood of Anna, IL; one daughter, Jayden Wood of Ullin, IL; two step-children, Austin and Tyler Wharton of Ullin, IL; one granddaughter who brought joy to his life, Oaklyn Wharton of Grand Tower, IL; his mother, Sharri Wood (David Ogden) of Kevil, KY; his father, Paul Wood (Roberta Brown) of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Stacey Ashley (Brian) of Josephine, Texas; and five nieces, Khadija and Ruqayah Serour of Josephine, Texas, Kallie Nigro of Anna, IL, Addie Watts of Antlers, Oklahoma, and Kenna Shufeldt of Antlers, Oklahoma.

There will be a private Memorial at a later date.
