Gary Lee Polivick, 70, of Wickliffe, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 19 2023 after a year-long battle with cancer. Gary was born in Cairo, IL on October 10, 1952 to John Taylor and Mary Belle Polivick.
He was a graduate of Carlisle County High School and worked at the Wickliffe Paper Mill as a maintenance mechanic for more than 40 years. He was an avid horseman, training and showing paint horses for many years. Gary enjoyed a good auction, buying and (supposedly) selling storage units and horses, watching black and white westerns and beating his family at a card game of rummy. He was a lifelong University of Kentucky basketball fan and like many, agreed that it’s time for a new coach. Gary loved a friendly debate, rarely lost one and never accepted any wooden nickels.
His two granddaughters, Annlee and Paislee Polivick, were his pride and joy. His happiest moments were watching them on the softball field, basketball court, in a choir concert, cheerleading or in the rodeo arena.
Gary is survived by his special friend, Rebecca Dover of Gaffney, SC; daughter Kelly Davis and Micah Channell (Hannah and Ryder) of Wickliffe; son Robert and Courtney Polivick, granddaughters Annlee and Paislee Polivick of Wickliffe; sister Debby Watson of Clinton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Mary Louise Hoskins, John Taylor Polivick, Jr., Bobby Polivick and Jerry Polivick. Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 5-8 P.M. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter.
Funeral Services will be held at Morrow Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 24 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeffrey Rudy and Ricky Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Blandville.
