Oscar, KY John Forrest Cooper, age 98 passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Life Care Center of LaCenter. He was born in Oscar, KY on July 20, 1925 to his late parents, Clarence and Lois Owsley Cooper.
John spent his entire life farming. He was the oldest life long member of Oscar United Methodist Church and was a member of Methodist Men. John was instrumental in the formation of the first Pork Producers organization in Kentucky.
He is survived by three sons, William (Sharon) Cooper of Bois D'Arc, MO, Gene Cooper of Cadiz, KY, and Benny Cooper (Terre) of Kevil, KY; two brothers, Ed Cooper (Dorothy) of Oscar, KY, and Tom Cooper of Clermont, Florida; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Elenore Alvey Cooper; a brother, Jack Cooper; two sisters, Carolyn Gordon and Dorothy Ann Pettigrew and his parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 after 11:00 a.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert McKinney and Brother Jack Rudy officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
