Mike Colson

Mike Colson, 71 passed away at his home in Barlow Kentucky on Thursday March 21, 2024. He was born December 7, 1952 in East Prairie, MO to the late W.T. And Faye (Deason) Colson. His family moved to Barlow Kentucky in 1964.

Mike bought his first dozer in 1974, and Colson Excavating began. He instilled his work ethic and operating equipment in his son, daughter, and all four grandsons. Mike spent most of his life on a dozer. He also enjoyed farming, gardening, reading, history, playing the guitar, listening to music, and celebrating Christmas and July 4th.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicki Lee Colson; son, Larry Colson (Baretta); daughter, Crystal Joyce (Timmy) Swinford; four grandsons, Colson Swinford, Lance Colson, Conner Swinford, Luke Colson; one granddaughter, Rayna Colson; two sisters, Shirley (Randy) Grief and Shelia (Don) Blankenship; one brother; Terry Colson; niece and bonus daughter; Jessica Colson Owsley.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sudie Colson Holdman.

Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.
