John “Wayne” Meunier was welcomed home by the angels in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, at Mercy Health Hospice, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends.
Following his retirement as Director of the Paducah/McCracken Riverport, Wayne—an avid outdoorsman—spent his days enjoying camping, fishing, and horseback riding. He was also a devoted auction-goer, a self-proclaimed chocoholic, and a true cowboy at heart. Wayne’s compassion for others shone brightly through his years of volunteer work with Cassidy’s Cause, Camp Robin, Buckmaster’s, and Goose Lodge—the handicapped hunting lodge he founded in the mid-1990s. His legacy of kindness and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather McKinney and son-in-law Jamie McKinney of Kevil, KY; his grandchildren, Brandon McKinney of Paducah, KY, and Breckyn McKinney of Kevil, KY; and his devoted friends who stood by him until the end, Rita and Joe Crabtree of Kevil, KY, Ron and Denise Chenoweth of Kevil, KY, and Frank Dennis of Jennings, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Faye Meunier, and his parents, John Orlando and Estelle Anderson Meunier.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cassidy’s Cause in Wayne’s honor.
